GSU Prevention Research Center Receives $5 Million Grant, Focuses on Social Connectedness
The Prevention Research Center at Georgia State University has received a grant of up to $5 million over five years from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to address two related issues that the U.S. Surgeon General has identified as a public health crisis: social isolation and loneliness.

Study Examines Sexual Assault Among STEM Majors
A recent study by Georgia State researchers suggests that college women majoring in STEM fields are more frequently victims of sexual assault than their non-STEM counterparts. It is the first to explore differences in sexual assault across STEM and non-STEM majors and also within STEM majors.

Interpersonal Violence
The overarching mission of the Center for Research on Interpersonal Violence is to promote collaboration and interdisciplinary scholarship that will ultimately prevent or reduce interpersonal violence. More specifically, the Center aims to establish collaborative research teams that facilitate discourse, generate innovative new scholarship, and support the training of new scholars in the field.

National SafeCare Training
and Research Center
Our mission is to ensure young children have a nurturing, safe and healthy home environment through SafeCare training, implementation support and research. SafeCare's program has three easy modules for providers to deliver and caregivers to utilize: health, safety and parent-child interaction.

National Center for Child Trafficking
The National Center on Child Trafficking (NCCT) is a collaboration of professionals with expertise in child trauma and human trafficking. We use a science-driven approach to guide the development, adaptation, implementation and evaluation of trauma-informed interventions and resources addressing sex and labor trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation to improve the lives of impacted children and families and support the professionals who serve them.

National Center for Sexual Violence Prevention
Our work starts at widening the lens of research to include the interrelated behaviors of alcohol use, drug use, suicide, and mental health symptoms. We're focusing on bettering our communities while using evidence-based interventions, community-relevant tools and public health education, which allows us to create unique connections and programs to generate new opportunities for partnered organizations to leverage our work.

Center for Leadership in Disability
The Center for Leadership in Disability (CLD) has been a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities in the Mark Chaffin Centers for Healthy Development and the School of Public Health at Georgia State since 2008. CLD translates research into sustainable community practices that contribute to independent, self-determined, inclusive and productive lives for people with disabilities and their families.

Our mission is to develop, implement and evaluate culturally and linguistically appropriate interventions to address the disparities and determinants of health for residents of the Clarkston community. Prevention Research Centers (PRC) are a network of academic research facilities in the United States that study how people and their communities can avoid or counter the risks for chronic illnesses.
