Whether forecasting infectious disease outbreaks or working with domestic and global partners, faculty in the School of Public Health apply their expertise to the prevention and control of infectious diseases that include COVID-19, HIV, influenza and Ebola.

In addition to helping inform the public, infectious disease forecasts created by Professor Gerardo Chowell and his students help health officials more clearly understand the size of outbreaks and more effectively deploy awareness and vaccination campaigns.


Community Impact: COVID Vaccination in Clarkston, Ga.
Through a mix of translating COVID education materials, hiring trusted community members to combat vaccine misinformation, and working directly with community groups and schools, Georgia State's Prevention Research Center has helped the diverse city of Clarkston, Ga. achieve the highest vaccination rate in Georgia compared to other areas with the same Social Vulnerability Index.
