Dr. Nurul Kodriati completed her Ph.D. in Public Health and Health Promotion in 2021. Her doctoral thesis was focusing on masculinity and smoking behavior among Indonesian men. She also previously worked for several years as a research manager at a Non-Governmental Organization focusing on violence against women, Rifka Annisa, based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Currently, she is a lecturer at University of Ahmad Dahlan, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This university, along with hundreds of other universities, is affiliated with Muhammadiyah, an Indonesian Muslim organization which leading tobacco control in Indonesia. It issued fatwa haram, prohibited, for both conventional cigarette and e-cigarette.
