Di Pei, Ph.D., received her Master’s degree in Communication from Michigan State University in 2015 and her Ph.D. degree in Communication from George Mason University in 2020. Her research interests are centered on the intersection of health, environmental, and intercultural communication. She has conducted studies examining the impact of persuasive messages and social-psychological factors on health and environmental risk perceptions and behaviors, focusing on historically and culturally rooted beliefs. Her studies use quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods.
As a postdoctoral fellow in Global Tobacco Research at GSU, Dr. Pei is interested in:
- Exploring the impact of social-psychological and cultural factors on the initiation and cessation of smoking.
- Examining the patterns of information seeking and processing related to tobacco use.
- Creating culturally sensitive persuasive messages to promote smoking cessation among smokers and reduce smoking initiation among adolescents.
