Brenda Y. Marlow is the Grants and Contracts Officer III for School of Public Health where she manages pre-wards and assists in post-awards. Brenda graduated from Bowling Green Jr. College in 1991 acquiring her Associate’s Degree in Business Management. Prior to joining the Georgia State University family in February of 2013, Brenda lived in Nashville, TN where she worked at Vanderbilt University for 7.5 years holding several positions in administration, budgeting analyst, finance, post awards and the Grants Manager for pre awards. Her prior experience spans across sectors such as human resources, business process analysis, program assessment, management, travel, editing and publishing. Her daily work functions of the office includes, but is not limited to, grant submissions, progress reports for continuation grants, preparing budgets, tracking dollars for new and awarded submissions for the School of Public Health, Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development and the Center for Leadership in Disability, processing amendments, processing subawards/contracts, making sure compliance guidelines are met, keeps abreast of new/updated agency policies, procedures, deadlines and timeframes of new initiatives and provide guidance and assistance to faculty in preparing and assembling grant proposals/contracts in compliance with sponsor, University, and federal guidelines and deadlines. Brenda continues to grow in her role as a Research Professional by expanding her knowledge bank when possible via informative workshops and training, and is set to take the Certified Research Administrators (CRA) test in May of 2014. In addition to her vast knowledge in the corporate world Brenda is also an author of three books, published between 2004 and 2011.
