Avais Arkwright is a Trainer in the National SafeCare Training and Research Center (NSTRC) in the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development. She conducts trainings and provides on-going consultation and support to sites implementing SafeCare, and contributes to the revision of SafeCare curriculum and training protocols.
Avais is currently studying the many growing needs of senior adults and focusing on how to help with their quality of life by improving their physical and nutritional needs.
Prior to joining Georgia State, Avais worked within the child welfare system as a CPS case manager, as well as being a foster and adoptive parent. She has also worked as a childcare provider and volunteer teacher and nursery coordinator for several Christian organizations. Her special interest is understanding the unique challenges of children born exposed to drugs and alcohol.
