- Biography
Avais Arkwright is a Trainer in the National SafeCare Training and Research Center (NSTRC), which is housed in the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development in the School of Public Health at Georgia State University, where she conducts trainings and provides on-going consultation and support to sites implementing SafeCare, and contributes to the revision of SafeCare curriculum and training protocols.
Prior to joining the staff at Georgia State, Avais has worked within the Child Welfare system as a CPS case manager, as well as being a foster and adoptive parent. She has also worked as a childcare provider and volunteer teacher and nursery coordinator for several Christian organizations. Her special interest is understanding the unique challenges of children born exposed to drugs and alcohol.
