MPH Student Spotlights

Isley Burgos chose the SPH's online MPH program for its perfect blend of flexibility and quality. She says the online program allows her to seamlessly balance work and family commitments while pursuing her passion for public health.

MPH student Kayla Osmon chose to concentrate in Health Promotion and Behavior for its holistic approach to promoting community health and its online accessibility. As an intern with GSU’s Prevention Research Center, she is working to improve mental health and chronic disease prevention for refugee, immigrant and migrant populations.

With a passion for research and teaching, MPH student Larry Mason Jr. aspires to a career in academia that supports impactful nonprofit initiatives.

Malaysia Allen says enrolling in the SPH’s 4+1 BS/MPH program made her transition from undergraduate to graduate school seamless. She’s currently enrolled in the online Health Promotion and Behavior MPH concentration and is passionate about addressing disparities in maternal care.

Driven by a passion for data and health, MPH student Arielle Doobay is diving into the world of Epidemiology to deepen her understanding of the mathematical and analytical aspects of public health.

Nneka Odimgbe, a MPH student in the Epidemiology concentration, is passionate about understanding how diseases emerge and spread, and how those patterns can be analyzed to protect communities.

MPH student Najma Dahir says she chose the Epidemiology concentration because one of her goals is to combat health issues facing underserved communities and reduce the disparities they face.

MPH student Mia Robinson is a fierce advocate for sickle cell awareness. Her personal journey with the disease inspired her to pursue a career in public health so she can continue to make a difference for underserved communities.

MPH student Valentina Paralitici says the School of Public Health’s Biostatistics concentration helped develop in her a passion for coding and skills that she is using to lay the foundation for an impactful career in public health.

MPH student Aspen Humes says the School of Public Health is equipping her with the tools she needs to achieve her goals of dismantling health disparities and championing equitable health solutions for the underserved.

Aaliya Burke, who is enrolled in the SPH’s 4+1 BS/MPH program, has a passion for learning about health equity and disparities and for finding ways to close those gaps through the use of new laws and policies, as well as the management of programs and healthcare facilities.

MPH student Kaithleen Hernandez, who is complementing their classroom knowledge with a graduate research assistantship in the Center for Leadership in Disability, wants to make systemic changes that improve public health.
