Shannon Self-Brown received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the Louisiana State University in 2004, with a specialization in child trauma and pediatric psychology.  From 2004-2006, Dr. Self-Brown completed an NIMH-sponsored postdoctoral fellowship at the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.  She completed a Research Fellowship within the Division of Violence Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2006-2008, where she served as a behavioral scientist on projects developing and testing technology-based programs targeting child maltreatment prevention.  Dr. Self-Brown is currently the Associate Director of the National Safecare Training and Research Center at Georgia State University.  Her research interests include examining risk and protective factors for youth exposed to community and family violence, child maltreatment, and disaster, as well as the evaluation of dissemination/implementation efforts for child maltreatment prevention programs.
