Biography

Margaret Hooker is a Community Services Specialist in the Center of Excellence on Health Disparities Research (CoEx), Community Engagement Core. CoEx which serves to expand SPH commitment to address community-level health disparities in Atlanta includes five cores:  Administrative; Research; Training and Education; Environmental Health, and Community Engagement. CoEx is committed to addressing health disparities in low-income and under-resourced Atlanta neighborhoods. Margaret’s primary role is working with community partners to promote new initiatives while strengthening existing programs; also to foster new relationships among organizations with the goal of establishing a consortium of community-based partners focused on health promotion. Previous experience in Community Health Outreach and Environmental Health Education have kept Margaret connected to grassroots organizations for nearly ten years. Margaret earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Ohio University, Athens, OH. She is a native of Cincinnati, OH.
