Dr. Anna Edwards-Gaura is an Assistant Professor and Associate Director for Curriculum Development in the Center for Healthy Development, College of Health and Human Sciences, at Georgia State University. She received her Ph.D. from the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Georgia and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. She has held previous research and administrative positions through Emory University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Battelle Centers for Public Health Research, and the Marcus Institute. Her clinical and research interests include prevention of and intervention for child maltreatment, the impact of maltreatment on children’s psychological adjustment, parental socialization of children’s emotional development in violent and nonviolent families, and behavioral and emotional responses to stress and trauma. She has published several articles and has made multiple presentations at professional conferences related to the SafeCare model, as well as the prevention of child maltreatment and its negative effects on children. In her capacity as Associate Director for Curriculum Development, Dr. Edwards directs curriculum development activities for the National SafeCare Training and Research Center, assists with local and national implementation of the SafeCare model; assists with hiring of staff, training of professionals, monitoring of staff fidelity to SafeCare, and grant and contract writing; provides educational seminars and workshops nationally and internationally; and prepares manuscripts.
