Will there be minimum GPA requirements for admission?
A minimum GPA of 2.75 will be preferred, however applications will be considered individually based on a number of factors.
What will be the minimum GRE or GMAT scores required?
Although applicants will be required to take either the GRE or GMAT, no minimum score will be required.
Where and what time are classes held?
All Master of Public Health classes are held at Georgia State University 's downtown campus. Classes are held in the afternoon as well as in the evenings to accommodate working students.
Do you offer any classes online?
Not at the present time; instructors vary in the degree to which they rely on the Internet for course communication and course content.
What is the policy for transfer of credits?
Students who have completed graduate courses at other accredited institutions prior to enrollment in the MPH program may request that any such courses be evaluated for transfer of credit. The student must have earned a grade of "B" or better in all transferable courses. The maximum amount of credit that may be transferred is nine (9) semester hours. Exceptions to this rule will be granted on an individual basis. Applicants may request a copy of the Graduate Request for Evaluation of Transfer Credit Form from the College of Health and Human Science’s Office of Academic Assistance at (404) 413-1000.
Who should I get to provide recommendations?
The Institute of Public Health requires the applicant to submit three Reference Forms. At least one reference must be an academic recommendation. Other recommendations should be sought from employers and/or supervisors from paid and/or volunteer work. It is suggested that a friend, relative, or peer not be used as reference. Give recommenders adequate time to fill out the forms and ask them to return the forms to you in a signed and sealed envelope, so that you can submit them with your application.
What information must be included in my Statement of Interest and Professional Intent and how long should it be?
Your statement is limited to two, typed double-spaced pages and should have an original signature and date. It should address the following:
